🏭 Getting Started with AutoCAD Plant 3D

Icons, Workspaces, Tools & Data Manager

🟢 AutoCAD Plant 3D can serve you to do great works, you just need to recognize how to use each tool to apply stages throughout your project easily and smoothly.

🖥️ Step 1 — Three Icons After Installation

🟢 After installation, three icons will be created:

  • AP3D — the main application
  • Report Creator — for generating reports
  • Spec Editor — for editing specifications

⚙️ Step 2 — Workspace & Standards

🟢 Workspace is to select which Standard will be used in your project. You can select what you need while you are installing the software.

🎗️ Step 3 — The Ribbon & Major Tools

🟢 The Major tools of AutoCAD Plant 3D will be found on the Ribbon, at the upper portion, which changes according to the selected workspace.

📋 Step 4 — Properties Palette

🟢 When you need a quick access to view, section, component, and line data, use the Properties Palette.

🗄️ Step 5 — Data Manager

🟢 When you place components and lines in your P&ID drawings, each component contains data that links to the Data Manager.

📝 Step 6 — Spec Editor & Spec Viewer

🟢 While the Spec Editor is used to develop which parts are included in a specification, the Spec Viewer is a tool that helps you place parts in a model, or build tool palettes from a particular spec.
